Why Matchmaticians?

Mathematics is a unique subject, it is a crucial component of school curriculum, and plays a significant role in students’ success in Science, Technology and Engineering. Many students struggle with math and find mastering mathematical concepts/techniques very difficult. This is partly due to students’ limited access to insightful mathematical guidance. Students may spend hours to understand a mathematical subject or to solve a math problem, and could end up frustrated without much success. This frustration leads to math anxiety in students and is one of the major reasons that many students dislike math. Matchmaticians.com aims to fill this educational gap and provides students with easy, reliable, and immediate access to mathematical help.

Our vision

A world without math anxiety in which every student has easy and immediate access to high quality help in Matchmaticians.

A brief overview

Matchmaticians.com allows users to ask and/or answer math questions. The questioner chooses a due date and offers a price for receiving a complete answer with all the necessary details before the due date. The answerer who accepts to answer the question is solely responsible to submit a complete answer before the due date. Funds will be put on hold in both the questioner’s and the answerer’s Matchmaticians accounts and will be released once the answer is reviewed by the questioner or a Matchmaticians judge. After the answer is received, the questioner has 7 days to review, accept or dispute the answer. If the answer is disputed, a judge will review the answer and make a final decision on completeness and accuracy of the answer. If the judge decides that the answer is not 100% complete, the questioner will receive a compensation and the answerer may lose a part or all of their deposit based on the judge’s evaluations of the completeness of the answer. See the review process section below for more details.

Public questions that receive complete answers could be purchased by other users in future and 20% of the sales price will be deposited to both the questioner and the answerer's Matchmaticians account (20% each). Private questions will be hidden from other users as soon as a user accepts to answer the question, and could not be viewed or purchased by other users.

Asking a question

State your question clearly, and chose a good title that describes the content of your question. If someone else has the same question in the future, they may buy the answer to your question, and 20% of the purchase price will be deposited to your Matchmaticians account.

If a user chooses to answer your question, they will submit a complete answer before the deadline, otherwise (depending on the quality of the answer which will be evaluated by a Matchmaticians judge) you will get partially or fully refunded. If no user accepts to answer your question before the deadline, you will be fully refunded. After receiving an answer, you have 7 days to accept or dispute it. If you do not take any action within 7 days, the answer will be accepted automatically and the answerer will be paid.

If you believe that the answer is not complete or fully explained, you can dispute it by clicking on the "Dispute" button. If you dispute the answer, then it will be forwarded to a Matchmaticians judge and will be reviewed within 3 days. The dispute fee is 10 percent of the question price, and will be fully refunded unless the judge determines that the solution is 100% correct, i.e. the dispute was unnecessary.

Your refund will depend on the judge’s evaluation of the answer. The table below shows how much you will be refunded, depending on judges evaluation of the answer.

Answering a question

Before accepting to answer a question, make sure that you can provide a complete answer with all the necessary details before the deadline. Accepted answers could be purchased by other users in future, and 20 percent of the purchase price will be deposited to your Matchmaticians account.

Once you accept to answer a question, other users will not be able to answer the same question and you are solely responsible to provide a complete answer before the deadline. You should include enough details so it can be understood by someone with minimal background on the subject. In order to guarantee the quality of your answer, 80% of the question price will be put on hold in your Matchmaticians account. If the answerer accepts your answer, this amount will be released and you will be fully paid. If the questioner explicitly asks for a typed answer, you should type your answer. If not, you may either type, or write your solution on a piece of paper and post a high quality picture. In case you post a picture of your answer, your handwriting should be readable and clean.

We give the questioner 7 days to review, and accept or dispute the answer. If the questioner does not take any action within 7 days, the answer will be automatically accepted and you will be paid the full amount. If the answer is disputed, then it will be forwarded to a Matchmaticians judge (website moderator) and will be evaluated within 3 days. You may lose a part or all of your deposit, depending on the judge’s evaluation of your answer. The table below shows how your Matchmaticians account will be credited.

Table 2- Credit to the answerer
Judge’s evaluation of the answer Credit
100% correct/ Answer Accepted 160% of the question price
90% correct/ Answer Accepted 134% of the question price
80% correct/ Answer Accepted 118% of the question price
70% correct/ Answer Accepted 102% of the question price
60% correct/ Answer Accepted 86% of the question price
50% correct/ Answer Accepted 70% of the question price
40% correct/ Answer Accepted 50% of the question price
30% correct/ Answer Accepted 38% of the question price
20% correct/ Answer Accepted 22% of the question price
10% correct/ Answer Accepted 6% of the question price
0% correct / Missed Deadline 0

Note that the paid amount in Table 2 also includes the initial deposit. In particular, if the answer is accepted or evaluated 100% correct, your account will be credited 160% of the question price, that is

160%=80% (initial deposit)+80% (question price).

If your answer is evaluated less than 40% correct, you will lose a part of your initial deposit. If you miss the deadline or your answer is evaluated 0% correct, you will lose all of your deposit.

The Review Process

Matchmaticians has very high standards for the quality of the submitted answers. Disputed answers will be forwarded to a Matchmaticians judge, and evaluated within 3 days. We expect the answerer to submit a perfect solution with all the required details and explanations before the due date. Each answer should be written as a brief tutorial on the asked question, and it should include enough details so it can be understood by someone with minimal background on the topic. Before accepting to answer a question, make sure you can submit a perfect answer before the due date.

Matchmaticians judges will be very strict in evaluating the quality of the disputed answers. Our judges will follow the following general guideline in their evaluation:

Table 3- Judicial Review
Type of deficiency in the submitted answer Judge’s evaluation
The final answer is not correct -40% off
A major computational/conceptual mistake -20% off
A minor computational/conceptual mistake -10% off
Lack of explanation for a major step -20% off
Lack of explanation for a minor step -10% off

After the judge submits their evaluation, the questioner and the answerer will be credited according to Table 1 and Table 2, respectively.

A typical scenario is when the final answer is not correct due to a major computational/conceptual mistake. Then the jude will evaluate the answer at least 60% incorrect (at most 40% correct), that is

60%=40% (incorrect final answer)+20% (A major computational/conceptual mistake).

The review process at Matchmaticians is indeed the guardian of our high standards for the quality of submitted answers. Our judges are highly qualified and will do their best to conduct a fair evaluation. After the judicial review is submitted, it is final and can not be disputed by either of the parties (the questioner or the answerer). By using Matchmaticians services you agree to accept Matchmaticians judges’ evaluations, and waive your rights for disputing their decision. Please carefully review our Terms and Conditions.

Private vs. Public Questions

You can choose to make your question private before posting it by checking the private question box. Private questions will be hidden from all other users once accepted to be answered by another user, and could not be viewed or purchased by other users.

If you choose to keep your question public and another user buys the answer to your question in the future, then 20% of the purchase price will be deposited in your Matchmaticians account. You can indeed make money by asking good public questions.
